Overview

This is an informal, peer-support session. It is for SCVO members only. The topic for the meet-up is media relations – all things print and broadcast media.

Securing media coverage can be helpful for lots of reasons including supercharging your campaigning and fundraising. But it's something lots of us find daunting.

This is an opportunity to share your experiences and learn from others. It’s also an opportunity to meet the Third Force News (TFN) team.

Overall aim

We know our members want more opportunities to network and learn from each other. And we know you are hungry for more opportunities to do this in-person.

Sharing experiences can help us consider different perspectives and explore new options.

This is an opportunity for people interested or involved in media relations to come together to share and learn.

Description

Where does media relations fit into your organisation's comms and marketing strategy? What works for you? Where are you struggling?

Whether you're trying to promote a fundraising event in local press and radio, or get coverage of an important news release on national TV, media relations can feel daunting.

Come along to hang out with like-minded people, to share where you are with your media relations, and to hear what others are up to too.

The TFN team will share more about their work and the best ways to get your news and views featured in TFN.

Format:

  • 10.30am - 11.30am – media relations share and learn. Discussions in small groups.
  • 11.30am - 12 noon – meet the TFN team
  • 12 noon - 1pm – optional sandwich lunch – informal networking. We’ll contact you in advance to confirm if you want to stay for lunch and to ask for dietary requirements.
Who is the event aimed at?

The session is for anyone in an SCVO member organisation who is interested or involved in media relations.
