Overview

Join us at the launch of SCVO's new digital Good Governance Checkup where you can find out more about how to identify the strengths and gaps in your organisation's governance and access new resources and tailored reports for your board.

Overall aim

This webinar will explore how SCVO's new self-assessment Good Governance Checkup can be used to help trustees regularly review and improve their organisation's governance. Using the five principles of the Scottish Governance Code, the Checkup will help trustees identify areas for improvement, and monitor and record their board's journey to good governance. Find out about our new governance resources and how to download and share a tailored board report for your organisation.

We will also hear from CCLA Investment Management, sponsors of the Good Governance Checkup, who provide ethical and responsible investment to charities, and Andrew Burns, SCVO Chair, who has been using the Checkup with the SCVO board.

SCVO will also launch a special offer for Trustees Week 2021 where organisations in Scotland can advertise their board vacancy for free on Goodmoves during November and December. Your trustee vacancy will be seen by over 80,000 people who are actively looking to get involved in the sector.

Description

SCVO's new online Good Governance Checkup will help you identify the strengths and gaps in your organisation’s governance. The Scottish Governance Code for the Third Sector is a statement of best practice for trustees to reflect on and improve governance in their organisation. It has five core principles to help guide trustees to do the right thing in the right way. The new digital Good Governance Checkup looks at the key ways to demonstrate and implement the five core principles, enabling trustees to identify areas for improvement and signposting you to further helpful resources.

This digital tool can be used by individual trustees and shared with the wider board to compare results to see where you’re all at on your journey to good governance. You can access your results in a report that you can use at your board meeting or as part of an away day, and get a helpful list of where to access useful templates, policies and further information.

Our sponsors of the new Good Governance Checkup, CCLA, will also talk about how they see good governance as an essential part of successful and sustainable charities.
