In an exciting new partnership, SCVO and the Social Justice Collective are pleased to offer a brand new equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) course to SCVO member organisations, social enterprises and the wider voluntary sector. This online course will be delivered via Zoom and consists of two sessions:
Session 1 - 6 March, 9.30am to 12.30pm
Session 2 - 7 March, 9.30am to 12.30pm
- Overall course aim
This online introductory course with trainers Pari Dhillon and Chaka Bachmann will help you understand and address EDI, and plan how to work towards embedding it into your organisation’s culture, practice and services.
Designed and delivered with the voluntary sector in mind this course will enable you to:
- Understand key EDI concepts and terminology
- Understand the context and need for this work within our sector
- Assess where your organisation is on its journey towards EDI
- Explore creating a compelling EDI vision
- Begin to set tangible goals

Session 1
- Purpose of both sessions and introduction to session 1
- Contracting
- Brief introduction to definitions
- What is privilege?
- What are microaggressions?
- Where is the sector at? Some stats and quotes from the sector
Session 2
- Contracting EDI work
- Assessing where your organisation is on its journey towards EDI
- Creating a compelling EDI vision
- Setting tangible goals
- Using these tools with staff or trustee teams

This online course is for support staff, senior leaders and trustees from the voluntary sector and social enterprises who want to learn and plan how to work towards EDI in their organisation’s culture, practice and services.

There are no formal entry requirements.

Course structure: 2x 3-hour sessions, which include real life examples, practical tools and opportunities to practice challenging conversations.
Attendance: You must attend both parts of this online course in order to complete it and receive your Certificate of achievement.
