Overview

In our May DigiShift we’ll take a look at what you need to do to make sure a website project is successful.

A good website can make it much easier for people to discover your organisation and engage with your work. It’s your shop window to the world. But managing a website project can feel complex and overwhelming. During this session, we’ll dig into some of the key principles you should follow to keep things on track.

Drawing on brand-new guidance from SCVO, we’ll be exploring the key stages you need to follow to plan and deliver a new website, and cover:

  • Why every website project needs to start with user needs
  • How better websites can help you achieve your mission goals
  • Key roles and responsibilities in a website project
  • Typical stages and milestones in a website project
  • Ideas about costs and internal capacity needs

John Fitzgerald leads SCVO’s Digital Evolution team, and has advised hundreds of charities on digital and technology topics. He has also run website projects as the internal lead for a number of charities.

Ross McCulloch and the Third Sector Lab team have extensive experience of working in digital and design for charities, social enterprises, community groups and the public sector. They build websites, help charities develop digital strategies and empower teams to use social media as a tool to get their job done.

DigiShift is a collaboration between SCVO and Third Sector Lab, supported by the National Lottery Community Fund (Scotland). We've run over 70 episodes since March 2020, and you can watch recordings of previous events on our YouTube playlist.
