DigiScotFest – next stop Dumfries and Galloway

A key part of our work is meeting people and talking to them. Not because we love wandering around Scotland admiring its beauty and diversity or because we’re all really sociable and love to chat (although both of the above are true). No – this is a key part of our work because we need to understand the ongoing and changing problems facing people who are not online. We spent the earlier part of the year talking to people in the central belt and followed this up last week with a couple of days in Strathpeffer with colleagues from a whole host of organisations working more rurally. Next week team digital and colleagues from The Royal Society of Edinburgh  head off to join Third Sector Interface Dumfries and Galloway on the next leg of DigiScotFest (on tour).

We need to understand the ongoing and changing problems facing people who are not online

We’re really excited to be spending time with colleagues from a range of organisations on 22 October at Easterbrook Hall in Dumfries. We’ll be highlighting some of the findings of RSE’s inquiry reported in Spreading the Benefits of Digital Participation, outlining the work of SCVO's team digital, finding out more about how digital is being used in local organisations and how people are being supported to get online. We’ve just launched a bunch of new projects which we hope will go some way to increasing digital participation across Scotland.

We know that we need to continue to make them even better and the only way we can do this is by encouraging people to participate and then listening to them to find out how we can improve our activity.
