Our digital inclusion maturity assessment is designed to help organisations baseline their work towards embedding digital inclusion. Every organisation is different, and every organisation will have a different journey. However, there are some common themes that need to be considered when embedding digital inclusion:
We've worked on digital inclusion for over a decade, and we've learnt a great deal along the way. Doing digital inclusion activities can be straightforward, but embedding digital inclusion in your core service delivery can be a process.
In 2022 we consolidated all our learning and insights to create a framework that will support the successful embedding of digital inclusion. We shared the framework with stakeholders to get their input and did some further development to refine it. In 2023 we started using it with organisations we work with to test its usefulness and relevance. We have now taken the framework and used it to create a check-up tool that anyone can complete.
The themes in the maturity assessment may look familiar to some. That's because Scotland's Digital Inclusion Charter follows the same structure, creating a framework for embedding digital inclusion. You can use the insights from the maturity assessment to complete the pledges for the Charter.
You can now use this self-completion tool to check your organisations digital inclusion maturity. It shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to complete. At the end you'll be shown your results. This will give you an overall percentage score, and a breakdown of the 4 different themes. You'll also get a report sent directly to your inbox as soon as you've completed it.
Take the Digital Inclusion Maturity Check-up now!
The check-up tool will usually be completed by someone in a management role, however can be completed by anyone in the organisation. We ask about your role in the organisation because your knowledge of work being undertaken on digital inclusion is valuable. For example, you may be in a frontline role but unaware of a digital inclusion strategy in the organisation. This is an important insight because if there is such a strategy it's not reaching the people it needs to reach.
The main purpose of this tool is to understand your organisations strengths and any gaps. It can be used to baseline where you're at on your journey, and identify your priorities moving forward. You can use the results to help shape an action plan and the take the check-up again in 6 or 12 months to track progress.
The report you receive can be used to support any plans you have for digital inclusion, especially if you want to present a plan to your senior leadership team or Board of Trustees.
You can also use this as a guide for signing Scotland's Digital Inclusion Charter. The Charter is there to promote, support and recognise great work in digital inclusion. If you're doing the work you should join our community and get the recognition for it!
If you need any help you'll get some useful resources in your report, and you can also check out our 'doing digital inclusion' webpages. They've been structured into the same headings as the check-up tool and the Charter.
The data collected gives use an insight to the digital inclusion maturity of organisations across Scotland. We anonymise and aggregate the data, and you can find out more in our Privacy Policy. We will use the anonymised aggregate data to create an annual snapshot of the digital inclusion maturity of organisations. When we ask for your organisation name this is so we can check income levels against OSCR database. We will cluster data by organisations sizes, to give more meaningful insights to the different strengths and challenges. This report can then be used by your organisation to benchmark your progress against similar size organisations. It also gives us insights to where we need to target our support.
