Scottish Government to review scheme and want to hear your views
The Scottish Government is in the process of reviewing the new water rates exemption scheme for charities.
The Government are keen to hear how the system has been working for charities in Scotland since its introduction in April 2015.
We’ve created
a (short!) survey with some key questions to enable you to share your thoughts. It’s worth noting that this survey will form part of the Scottish Government’s review so this is a great opportunity to have your voice heard.
SCVO will be gathering the responses to the survey in order to make sure we have a full picture of how the scheme is working for all charities in Scotland.
Since the scheme was changed, we’ve been keeping you updated on what you need to do in order to secure an exemption and further information on the exemption scheme is available from the Scottish Government.
However, SCVO has still had some communications from members around queries relating to eligibility or the annual application process so you may want to raise some of these issues to make sure they form part of the review. Others haven’t been in touch at all, which would imply that the system is working well and perhaps you’d like to maintain this system, in this form...let us know!
It’s really important that we hear your views, positive or negative, because this exemption scheme is all about charities and it’s important that it works well for our sector.
If you have any questions about the exemption scheme, this survey or the review, I’d be delighted to speak to you so feel free to
get in touch!
The
survey is now available and will run until the
29th of September.
