We will ensure that the sector is recognised as both a significant employer and a contributor to the employability landscape.
The sector is a significant employer with a key role in shaping Scotland’s future beyond the essential services we provide.
The Scottish voluntary sector:
- Includes over 40,000 organisations
- Employs over 100,000 paid staff
- Works with over 1.4 million volunteers.
Like other sectors, the voluntary sector must provide employees and volunteers with Fair Work, ensuring security, respect, opportunity, fulfilment, and an effective voice. Our representative on the Fair Work Convention will ensure the sectors voice is heard. We will challenge current models of procurement and champion the benefits of Fair Work.
Similarly, we will ensure that the sector is recognised and resourced as a significant contributor in the employability landscape, supporting people and communities across Scotland into employment.
Our policy team work with the wider SCVO team to support:
- The SCVO HR and Employment Support Service Advisory Group
- Community Jobs Scotland
- The Kickstart Scheme
SCVO are also a member of the Scottish Volunteering Forum Steering Group.
