SCQF Credit Rated Course in Digital Inclusion
Glasgow Kelvin College, in partnership with SCVO are delighted to announce the release of these SCQF credit rated courses, designed to support local people get online and take measures to address the digital skills gap in Scotland. The courses have been co-designed by representatives and members of SCVO, working with staff from Glasgow Kelvin College. All three courses are delivered online and are FREE!
These courses are aimed at workforce development, and best suited to frontline staff working in roles that support others to build their digital skills and confidence. These qualifications are not designed to build digital skills of individuals. If you’re looking for courses to build your own digital skills you can start by doing the Essential Digital Skills Checkup, which will generate learning resources based on your (or your learners) needs.
Certificate in Digital Inclusion Support – SCQF Level 4 (Now fully subscribed for 2021/2022)
This is an introduction course for anyone interested in learning more about digital inclusion – perfect for Digital Champions. This course will help learners understand what we mean by digital inclusion, how it affects people who do not have digital skills, and what steps can be taken to support those considered digitally excluded. The course provides a theory-based approach, explaining the reasons why people engage with digital technology, and more importantly, why others do not. By developing an understanding, the participants will learn strategies designed to support and encourage people to engage in learning new digital skills. Study time: approximately 10 hours.

Essential Skills for Digital Champions – SCQF Level 6 (Now fully subscribed for 2021/2022)
This course is designed to provide learners with a knowledge and understanding of the role of a Digital Champion – someone who supports local people to engage in learning digital skills and enjoy the benefits of being online. A combination of theory and practice, the course is aimed at those who possess a range of basic digital skills, are currently a Digital Champion, or keen to work in that role. Study time: approximately 40 hours.

Digital Inclusion Project Management – SCQF Level 8 (Now fully subscribed for 2021/2022)
This Unit is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills required to design, implement and fully evaluate a digital skills project. The resultant skills will enable the learner to manage the development of a project, combining both Community Learning and Development (CLD) and Business principles and practices in a range of areas, including; researching current provision, partnership working, project management, recruitment, marketing and self-evaluation.
This Unit is both theory and practice based. It is aimed at individuals who are keen to embrace local and national digital inclusion strategies, supporting local people become more digitally agile, in line with their own organisational ambitions and outcomes. This is best suited to anyone who has a role in leading digital inclusion activities or projects as you will have assignments that are linked to your work. Learners will become familiar with digitally agile principles, which will underpin the project through its development and continue through the existence of a sustainable, live, digital skills programme. Study time: approximately 80 hours.
