Founded in 2007 by descendants of Sir Ernest Shackleton’s Antarctic expeditions in the early part of the 20th century, the Shackleton Foundation seeks to help disadvantaged and socially marginalised young people. The Shackleton Foundation provides seed funding and support, by means of a single grant or loan of £15,000 to early-stage social ventures with a primary focus on benefiting young people in the UK. Funding is to support leaders with innovative social ideas aimed at generating positive social change for disadvantaged and socially marginalised young people. Trustees are looking for:- Projects that are innovative and fresh- Fulfil a clear need and demand- Have a real social impact- Have well-defined outputs and goals- Have the potential for real growth and sustainabilityYour award will either be a grant OR a loan, depending on your organisation's legal structure (see fund guidance). Successful applicants can also expect to receive assistance with the practical aspects of starting up a social venture. These include:- Seed-funding- Mentoring by existing Leaders- Access to quarterly advice surgeries and an annual Leaders Forum- Awareness building for your venture- Introductions to potential second stage funders

The fund welcomes applications from organisations that make a difference across a range of areas: - Community Buildings – projects which maintain and develop buildings being used and run by the community, especially projects which help ensure their sustainability for the future.- Community transport initiatives.- Conservation, wildlife and animal sanctuary projects – in particular those which improve communal land.- Education and skills development.- The elderly – projects focused on improving access to activities and services.- Energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.- Health and sport – projects that help provide access to services that aim to improve the health and well-being of the local community.- Heritage – projects that celebrate protect and promote local culture, history and heritage.- Regeneration – community projects that help to reduce crime levels, increase employment, housing or the physical environment.- Self-help groups – community groups that deliver basic services.- Vulnerable people – projects which enable increased access to services and facilities for people with disabilities, the homeless and those disadvantaged.- Young people – projects which focus on improving access to services where young people can play a key role in decision making.The community fund is open to applications from groups and projects which benefit the communities living in the following community council areas: Crathes, Drumoak and Durris; Newtonhill, Muchalls & Cammachmore; North Kincardine Rural; Portlethen and District; Stonehaven and District.

The Seed and Development Fund is open to any Fife community group and designed for projects with momentum that want to grow, develop capacity and increase impact. Funding can support:- Expanding successful community climate projects.- Developing or delivering community climate action plans.- Feasibility studies, surveys or consultancy support.- Increasing volunteer capacity, skills or training.- Purchasing larger items of equipment or infrastructure.- Improving community facilities to reduce environmental impact.- Match funding for larger climate projects.Applicants should demonstrate that their project has clear outcomes, builds on existing activity andwill deliver greater impact for their community.The Fund is looking for projects that:- Support communities to take meaningful climate action.- Deliver positive environmental, social and/or economic outcomes.- Involve local people and encourage community participation.- Build the capacity of community organisations to continue delivering climate action beyond the life of the grant.- Contribute towards a fairer, greener and more resilient Fife.Projects focusing on climate adaptation, nature recovery, biodiversity enhancement, carbonreduction or community resilience are particularly encouraged.Activities aimed at engaging people who are not already involved in climate action are welcomed.

They want to hear from charities, social enterprises, and businesses that have a clear and positive environmental or social purpose and are dedicated to making a real difference in the world. If you're one of them, they're eager to join forces with you! Alongside Just Enough Brave's digital partner Altitude Design, every year, they offer up to £15,000 worth of free creative and digital consultancy time.

Seven Friends Foundation provides small grants to organisations that fulfil their charitable aims:- To support and promote causes that are ignored, unpopular or face widespread stigma- Create stronger local communities that include those who have previously been excluded or marginalised- Improve skills, infrastructure, sustainability and collaboration within the third sectorThe Foundation wants to support those organisations and causes that are unpopular or do not receive widespread public attention. This could be due to negative focus within the media; due to difficulty in accessing statutory, voluntary and institutional funding; due to the cause being seen as politically controversial; or because the issue is not typically seen as a charitable cause. Examples of these types of causes or groups may be:- Asylum seekers and refugees- Migrant communities- Offenders and ex-offenders- People experiencing violence or abuse- Sex workers- Trafficking and modern slavery- Dependency or Addiction- LGBT+- Sexual and reproductive healthThey look to support organisations to undertake work and projects which are sustainable beyond the period of funding.

This trust supports a range of charitable organisation for work in Dundee and Tayside.Organisations supported include health and welfare organisations and groups which provide assistance to individuals suffering from physical and mental illnesses.
